Report an Error | Help Us Improve

Last Updated: January 26, 2026

At DepartmentOfCorrections.org, we pride ourselves on manual verification. However, the US corrections system is massive and changes constantly. Visitation hours shift, phone numbers change, and policies are updated—sometimes overnight.

If you spot an error on one of our pages, we want to know.

We rely on our community of families, attorneys, and former inmates to help us keep this database the most accurate resource on the web.

How to Submit a Correction

Please use the form below or email us directly. We investigate all reports within 48 business hours.

What We Need From You:

  1. The Page URL: Which specific guide has the error?

  2. The Error: What is incorrect? (e.g., “The visitation hours for Unit B are now 9 AM – 3 PM.”)

  3. The Proof (Optional but Helpful): If you have a link to the official sheriff’s announcement or a photo of a new sign at the facility, please share it. This helps us verify the change faster.

Submission Form

(If you are using a contact form plugin like Contact Form 7 or WPForms, insert it here. Otherwise, use the email template below).

Email Us Directly:

  • Email: corrections@departmentofcorrections.org

  • Subject Line: Error Report – [Facility Name]

Common Corrections We Look For

Not sure if you should report it? Here are the most critical updates we need:

  • Broken Links: Does a button to an “Official Inmate Search” lead to a 404 Page Not Found?

  • Phone Numbers: Is the facility line disconnected or ringing to the wrong department?

  • Visitation Rules: Has the dress code changed? Are video visits now mandatory?

  • Mailing Addresses: Has the P.O. Box for inmate mail changed?

Our “Verified Update” Process

When you submit a correction, here is what happens next:

  1. Review: A human researcher on our team reviews your report.

  2. Verify: We contact the facility or check the official government portal to confirm the new data.

  3. Update: Once verified, we update the page immediately and change the “Last Updated” date.

  4. Credit: If you wish, we can credit you as a “Community Contributor” for helping us improve.

Thank you for helping us make the corrections system easier for everyone.
